Exercise 8: Camera Dynamic Range

 

My camera had the NR off and set to spot metering, the reading on the white card was ISO100, f/13, 1/200 sec. There was no highlight clipping on the White card at this point.

I took a reading from the dark shadows on the stairs which  was ISO 100, f/29, 1/200sec.

I zoomed in to 100% onto the white card, in my imaging software. using the pixel value sampler I took a reading of the three channels  which was R: 246,  G:246, R: 2454.

I think the dynamic range for my camera is around 8 stops, but I am really not sure if this is right.
